Product description
This clear blond beer pours with a beautiful white head. It has a fruity aroma of banana and you notice some spicy and malty notes. In the aftertaste you get a little sweet.
The rich and smooth taste of this golden purebred Belgian ale has satisfied countless generations of thirsty Belgian. A mild bitterness underpins its soft fruitiness.
Affligem was originally brewed in the Benedictine abbey of Affligem. The brewery was first mentioned in 1074. During Advent and Lent the monks were not allowed to drink so much beer. That is why a heavier beer was temporarily made: the tripel. In 1969, the De Smedt brothers, in consultation with the abbey, bought the rights to the brand name. From 1970, the beer was further produced by De Smedt Brewery from Opwijk. In 2010, the Affligem brand was transferred to the Alken-Maes portfolio. However, Affligem Abbey remains the owner of the brand, so the recipes will not change.
